The following sculptures are the result of a collaboration with Milwaukee artist and studio mate, Thaddeus Kellstadt, who shares a fondness for reuse of discarded materials and bright colors. These wood scrap sculptures were born out of a series of late night quarantine painting sessions. The wood used in these pieces are scraps left over from previous art and furniture projects, dumpster dives and driftwood. No expectations were set for the final outcome. We approached the shapes as if they were pieces of a puzzle, with little to no modification. With a playful sensibility guiding us, the forms themselves inspired the content. Creating these works offered a respite from these tumultuous times and our hope is that the viewer will share in that experience.
The following sculptures are a series of “Fluoro Beings” commissioned by Susan Alexandra for her new flagship store in NYC. Every sculpture features a unique assortment of various objects including shells, rocks, beads, sequins, crystals and cabochons embedded in fluorescent cement encased over a watertight glass vessel. Use it as a bud vase or add to an altar of treasured relics. Dimensions: 4.5" x 4.5"
I created a series of embellished lighters featuring objects embedded into epoxy sculpt- a rock hard, air dry, waterproof epoxy clay. These were debuted at Milwaukee’s Hovercraft Annual Holiday craft show in Dec 2021.
